MESSAGES
Search the Scriptures and See! (John 5:37-40)
Jesus gave His disciples and the Pharisees a profound revelation about the unmistakable testimony of who He truly is:
John 5:
37 And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen,
38 and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.
39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,
40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
» Knowing the Scriptures but Ignoring the Savior
Here we see Jesus making a strong appeal, speaking to those who carefully studied the Scriptures but did not have the living Word of God within them.
They failed to recognize that He was the One sent by the Father to bring salvation.
Many had placed their hopes in the Law of Moses, forgetting that Moses himself had prophesied about Jesus, the Messiah.
The people of that time, blinded by their own interests, rejected God's perfect plan of salvation.
» The Testimony of His Works and the Voice of the Spirit
Jesus declared that the Scriptures themselves testify about Him.
The signs and miracles He performed confirmed His identity and mission, something that sincere men like Nicodemus quickly recognized.
Although we do not see God's physical form today, we have the great privilege of hearing His voice and receiving His revelations through the Holy Spirit, something that was missing from the hearts of many in that generation.
» The Only Way to Redemption
Jesus went through all the suffering of His earthly journey not because of a cold obligation from God, but because it was the only way for us to receive redemption and the forgiveness of sins.
It was the deep love of our Lord that moved Him to give His own life. Through this voluntary sacrifice, we were restored to God and received the right to return to God's original plan for humanity: to live forever with Him as people set free from sin.
» See Jesus Throughout the Bible
Therefore, devote yourself to knowing God.
Read the Scriptures and understand that the Word will continually reveal Jesus to you.
See the Son of God in every chapter and every book, for He has always been God's perfect plan to give us eternal life.
Be thankful, live out this truth, and testify to the world that Jesus Christ is alive! He heals, delivers, saves, performs miracles today, and remains with us every day, even to the end of the age!
