The Precious Gift of God (John 4:10)
Today I would like to speak about one of the most transformative encounters recorded in the Gospels, which teaches us the importance of recognizing the true gift of God for our lives.
John 4:10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
» The Transforming Encounter Without Prejudice
Here we see Jesus Christ, the Son of God, presenting Himself to a Samaritan woman.
Because they were a mixed people, the Samaritans were rejected by the Jews.
However, Jesus, breaking all prejudice and barriers, stopped at Jacob’s well in Samaria.
When the woman came to draw water, Jesus asked her for a drink.
Seeing her astonishment that a Jew would speak to a Samaritan, Jesus revealed something glorious: if she knew the gift — the present of God standing right before her eyes — she herself would ask Him, and He would give her living water that would satisfy her thirst forever.
» Recognizing the Lordship of Christ
This is a profound truth that applies directly to our lives today.
How many people look at Jesus but do not recognize Him?
How many stand in the presence of the Lord, hearing His call, yet ignore Him simply because they do not believe He is the absolute Lord, the One who has all power to bless and save?
» The Lord Who Knows Your Story
The woman was deeply amazed by Jesus’ words. She ran from that place to testify that she had met the Christ — the man who revealed everything about her own life.
When we recognize who Jesus truly is, He unveils our hearts and transforms our reality.
» A Call to Drink the Living Water
May you take today to recognize Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
He knows every detail of your life and has all power to change stories, transforming even the most difficult situations you face.
He is the only One with authority to grant forgiveness and salvation.
Look to Him. He can indeed give you the true living water — abundant and overflowing — that pours over your life and leads you to salvation, for He is the Son of God and holds complete and perfect authority over our lives!
