I Bring to Mind What Gives Me Hope (Lamentations 3:21-24)
Lamentations 3:
21 But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
» Bringing to Mind What Brings Hope
The prophet Jeremiah teaches us something extremely important here. In the midst of terrible struggles and deep difficulties, he paused for a transforming reflection: “I want to bring to mind what can give me hope.”
He intentionally chose to think about what God could do for him, recognizing that it is the Lord’s mercies that keep us from being consumed and that they are renewed every morning.
And finally, he declares his decision to wait on the Lord.
» The Comfort of Divine Promises
Do you have conviction of these truths in your life?
Do as Jeremiah did: bring to remembrance what gives you joy and hope.
Remember the Word of God and His unfailing promises.
Remember that the Lord will never abandon you, that He is faithful and true to accomplish everything He has spoken.
He loves us, keeps us, protects us, and has given us the wonderful promise of salvation.
» The Faithfulness of the Almighty God
Our God is the One who, when He speaks, His words become law.
Therefore, look to the Scriptures and hold firmly to the promises with faith.
Wait for the eternal God to bring you, at the exact and necessary moment, the help, relief, blessing, and joy you long for.
The Word of God comforts you because His promises are eternal and will never fail.
Remember that your God controls all things in the palm of His hand and will never fail to win a battle.
The Lord of Hosts fights for us, keeps us, protects us, and gives us joy and peace.
Therefore, wait on the Lord, bringing every day to your mind what God has already promised you!
