MESSAGES
Words of Eternal Life (John 6:67-69)
Jesus was ministering to a crowd and to His disciples when Peter responded to a confronting question from Jesus:
John 6:
67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?”
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,
69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”
» The Word That Confronts
We see Jesus bringing a deep and confronting revelation to the crowds: He was the bread that came down from heaven, and unless they ate the flesh of the Son of Man and drank His blood, they would have no life — representing that unless people had true communion with Him, they would not attain salvation.
These spiritual words scandalized many listeners, who decided to abandon the Master.
Faced with that mass departure, Jesus turned to the twelve disciples and asked, “Do you also want to go away?” Peter’s answer is a powerful milestone for us: there was nowhere else to go, for no one else could give them the words of eternal life.
» The Weight and Demands of Salvation
We must listen to this truth and value our communion with God.
The Lord left very clear guidelines in the Bible, and many of them are what I call eliminatory words for salvation.
We must understand that what God speaks becomes law.
The Word categorically warns us: “Without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Without separating ourselves from the things of this world, we will not see God.
Jesus also declared that whoever loves father, mother, children, or siblings more than Him is not worthy of Him.
And He commanded that we must love God above all things.
If these Words are not obeyed, salvation will not take place.
» Judgment According to the Written Truth
Many have deceived themselves, believing that divine judgment will be mild.
The Word of God is strong, and the Lord Jesus guaranteed that it will be fulfilled down to the last “dot,” with the exact intensity in which it was spoken.
On the final day, we will be judged and confronted based precisely on what is written in the Holy Book.
Therefore, do not be deceived — give proper value to the requirements and strong expressions God left us, so that you are not frustrated on that great day and end up excluded by the very Word you ignored.
» A Call to Remain
Be attentive and do not be deceived. The Word of God is indeed intense and requires genuine commitment.
On that occasion, many could not bear the weight of the teachings and walked away from Jesus.
May you not be one of those who retreat and walk down a path of destruction.
Stand firm in the certainty that only Christ has the words that lead to eternal life.
Believe them, obey them with all your heart, and remain faithful until the end!
