Without Signs and Wonders Many Will Not Believe (John 4:48)

One of the most striking aspects of Jesus’ ministry is the manifestation of His power to awaken true faith in people’s hearts.

John 4:48 So Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.”

» The Faith That Comes Before the Miracle

In this passage, we see Jesus being sought by a man who traveled from Capernaum to Galilee to plead for the life of his son, who was gravely ill. Jesus simply declared that the boy would not die, and the father, believing in the Word of the Lord, returned home. When he arrived, his servants met him and confirmed that his son had been healed at the exact hour Jesus had spoken to him.

It was a wonderful miracle that firmly established that man’s faith.

» The Work of God Is Done in Power

In this same context, Jesus made a striking statement: if people do not see signs and wonders, they will hardly believe. It is crucial to pay attention to this, because the work of God is clothed in power! It is the power of the Word, the action of the Holy Spirit, and the authority Christ has given us.

Jesus assured us that signs would follow those who believe: laying hands on the sick and seeing them healed, deliverance, and more.

Everything Jesus left us as an inheritance is essential empowerment so that more people may be converted and come to know the truth.

» The Transforming Power of the Word and Praise

A living proof of how this power works today is the beautiful testimony of a famous singer and actress that I heard.

Her conversion began in a genuine way: by listening to people talk about spiritual life.

Moved by the Holy Spirit, she began listening to worship songs, which carry deep adoration and exaltation to the works of our God.

The praise moved her heart. Soon she was consuming sermons and theological studies, experiencing firsthand that the Word of God is like fire and like a hammer that breaks the rock!

She then dove into the waters of the Spirit, just like in the vision of the prophet Ezekiel, advancing according to the Lord’s timing.

» Our Calling Against Superficiality

The Word of God is pure power; it does not return to Him empty but accomplishes His purpose.

As servants of God, we cannot forget the importance of signs and wonders in our daily lives, seeing them as the direct result of our prayers, intercession, and ministry.

Do not allow yourself to fall into stagnation, coldness, or spiritual superficiality, which unfortunately we see in many places today.

True conversions are the fruit of the same works Jesus performed here on earth.

Jesus’ great strategy was clear: preach the Word and perform miracles.

Therefore, speak about what God does, pray with faith, and minister the power of heaven.

May the name of the Lord always be exalted through the Word and through the miracles that will accompany your life!
