The Spirit of Truth (John 16:12-15)

I believe that one of God’s most valuable promises is the coming of the Holy Spirit upon us and His majestic work.

John 16:
12 — I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

» The Wonderful Promise of Christ

This is an extraordinary promise. Jesus was about to be crucified, living His last moments here on earth, and even then He announced to humanity one of God’s greatest blessings: the coming of the Holy Spirit. He makes clear the essential role of the Spirit in our lives: to reveal the words of Christ and to announce what is to come.

» The Need to Hear God’s Voice

The believer’s experience with the Holy Spirit is essential. He is the one who reveals more and more about Jesus and about God. He unveils the things of the Most High, teaches us, reminds us of the Word, and guides us according to God’s heart and the desires of Jesus.

A believer who becomes deaf to the voice of the Holy Spirit urgently needs a deeper experience with God. Those who truly turn to the Lord, right at the beginning, listen to His voice and begin to long intensely for more intimacy with Him. These experiences, granted by the Spirit Himself, strengthen us in the power of the Word and in the wonderful revelations of God for our lives.

» Sanctification: Letting the Spirit Rule the Soul

How many times the Holy Spirit warns us, corrects us, and exhorts us. Our God has given us an extraordinary promise: His Spirit would dwell within us. Therefore, He knows our most intimate thoughts and reveals to our hearts what the perfect will of the Lord is.

But many are deaf, many are ignoring, and many are pushing the Holy Spirit of God out of their lives.

We must obey what God has commanded: sanctification, so that the Holy Spirit speaks louder and our spirit governs our soul.

Our spirit desires God; it has intimate contact with the Holy Spirit. But our soul desires the things of the world, what pleases the flesh. And many times the soul speaks louder than the spirit — and then the believer grows cold, falls into sin, and distances himself from God.

» A Call to Awakening

Today, I invite you to seek the Lord with even more fervor. Listen to the One who wants to speak to you and guide your journey.

Giving your life to Jesus means declaring that He is your owner, your absolute Lord.

Make a sincere reflection: have you allowed Him to truly guide your steps? Rejoice in the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life and in the revelations He gives you about the living God and our Savior.

Do not be a superficial or cold Christian, but let yourself be warmed daily by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit of God in your life!
