The Privilege of Hearing the Voice of God (Luke 10:23-24)

Once, Jesus showed His disciples, in private, the immense privilege they were having. They were receiving direct revelations from the Son of God, seeing and hearing mysteries and truths that had never before been given to humanity.

Luke 10:23-24 Then turning to the disciples he said privately, Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

» Our Privilege Today

We have been included in this same grace. We have the immense privilege of holding the Holy Bible in our hands, reading the Gospels, and hearing the Word of God being preached and praised everywhere and at all times.

As the letter to the Hebrews reminds us, the Word of God is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. It confronts, heals, restores, and guides. When we meditate on the Scriptures, we aren't just reading old historical accounts; we are actually learning how to live according to the principles and teachings of our God.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

We are extremely privileged to have this wonderful Book at our disposal. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people despise it. Because they don't meditate on the Word, they don't learn eternal truths and, consequently, they don't experience its transforming and healing effect in their lives.

» Be an Instrument of Comfort and Direction

Many people would desperately love to hear a word of comfort, a word of guidance that makes them feel secure, an answer to their deep sorrows and distress. The problem is that, often, they don't know where to find these answers.

You, as an instrument of God and as someone who knows the Truth, should look to the Word for the wisdom needed to guide the people around you.

Read the Scriptures to those who are distressed, sad, bitter, and lost. Offer them not empty human advice, but the Word that comes from the mouth of God Himself — a word of comfort, joy, and real power.

Remember what the Lord Jesus Himself declared in the wilderness:

Matthew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

» Feed Yourself and Move Forward

Feed yourself daily with this wonderful Word. Acknowledge your position as a privileged person, for you hear the voice of the Lord through the Scriptures. Powerful prophets and great kings of the past longed to hear what you hear today and to have the clarity of the grace that was revealed to us by Jesus.

Therefore, listen, meditate, and practice it. Be someone who is completely guided, strong, and vigorous. Be someone who is not shaken by crises and does not get discouraged in the face of struggles. More than that: be someone used by God to, in your daily conversations, show the Way, the Truth, and the Life to those who are suffering, simply by ministering the power of the Lord's Word.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
