The Lord Is The One Who Guards You (Matthew 8:23-25)

Matthew 8:23-25 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drow1n!”

Sometimes we go through circumstances that are so difficult, crises that seem endless or whose resolution feels so uncertain that we believe there’s no way out. This happens because we are human, we are weak, we are flawed, and our nature leads us to have such thoughts.

Circumstances that are not under our control sometimes have the power to take away our peace, to worry us, and even to make us give up on everything that was once conquered.

And sometimes we forget that at our side there is a God who guards us, a God who supports us and sustains us in any and every situation.

Matthew 8:26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

We should not fear, because Jesus is powerful. Even if it seems that He doesn’t know what is happening or doesn’t care about what we are going through, He is always with us-guarding us and delivering us from all evil.

His voice calms the sea, quiets the storm, and stops the wind. He is powerful and can make any situation seem insignificant with just one command. All we need to do is believe, cry out, and He will do it.

Matthew 8:27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

Let us not be afraid or fearful, but rather have faith that everything is in the hands of our God, for He is the one who guards us, regardless of the situation or difficulty before us.

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.

Seek the Lord, call upon his name and He will hear you, and then you will see that the difficulty that seemed so great and impossible to overcome was, in truth, infinitely small compared to our God.

Psalm 121:5 The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand.

The Lord bless you and keep you.
