There Is Nothing I Desire More Than God (Psalm 73:25)

Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

The psalmist expresses in this verse his total dependence on God and declares with certainty that God is what matters most to him, both in heaven and on earth.

He states that there is nothing he desires more than God.

In this world, when we long for something, we fight and do everything in our power to attain it, often tirelessly.

When we have an important commitment, we do everything we can to be there, rain or shine.

But when it comes to matters of God, are we the same?

Are we longing for the Lord with all our heart, in proportion to how important He is to us?

Or do we often set God aside—neglecting prayer, neglecting to read the Bible, neglecting to go to the house of the Lord?

What would we be without the Lord and without His presence?

Without Him we would be empty.

Without Him we could do nothing.

Without His presence nothing would matter.

Without His presence our praise is nothing, and our ministry is nothing.

May we desire Christ day after day, as the psalmist says, “There is nothing on earth that I want more than You.”

May we learn to relinquish our own desires and wills.

Choosing Christ does not mean we will have no struggles, but it does mean we can be certain He will be our rock and fortress, supporting us always.

The Lord bless you end keep you.
