Light for Darkness (John 8:12)
During the many years of my pastoral ministry, I've walked alongside people facing various situations, such as: Blessings, miracles, struggles, and situations or problems that almost led to total destruction.
A large part of these counseling sessions involved people who were facing very difficult situations in their lives (in their marriage, family, work, or personal life), and a good number of them were desperate, with no prospects, wanting to give up on everything and everyone.
And the almost universal cause for so much suffering was: THE LACK OF GOD IN THESE PEOPLE'S DAILY LIVES.
These people were deceived, blind, and unaware that their lives were actually in darkness, and when you are in darkness, most of the time you can't see the cause, nor the way out.
At the same time we witnessed such situations, we were able to see God's wonderful power transforming these lives and bringing them into full light, restoring homes, families, and the individuals themselves, fulfilling His Word:
Isaiah 42:16 And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them.
Many people have tried to solve their problems alone or have looked for paths that only make things worse and lead to destruction.
Some have listened to advice that lacks the slightest biblical foundation and, as a result, have suffered the consequences of their actions.
Many are looking up to the adulterer, the corrupt, the sinner, instead of looking up to the Word of God.
Matthew 15:14 Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.
For those living in darkness, the solution is to walk in the light, because the light dissipates the darkness and there is no possible fellowship between them.
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
JESUS IS THE LIGHT THAT DESTROYS THE DARKNESS.
John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
He who surrenders his way to Jesus, abandons sinful attitudes, takes pleasure in and seeks the things of God, will always live in the light.
Ephesians 5:8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY.
The root of all destruction in the world is sin and man's distancing from God.
Current tragedies, miseries, and destructions are reflections of man's contempt for and turning away from God.
If you have doubts, think: Could a man with God in his heart steal, kill, become corrupt, lie, commit adultery, or wish evil upon his neighbor?
If you are experiencing situations like these, surely God is missing in your life, and consequently, your life is in darkness.
John 12:35 So Jesus said to them, The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
Always remember this interesting phrase I heard one day: "NEVER LISTEN TO A MAN WHO DOESN'T LISTEN TO GOD".
